Design is not a decoration that is hung on a thing.
It is the process of building a solution and informs the entire structure.
It can be as simple as a paper clip or as complex as a space telescope. But it needs to know which one of those it is. Good design arrives at a solution by understanding the nature and scope of the problem and the parameters in which the solution must fit. Sticking sheets of paper together between two space telescopes might win design awards, but it isn't good design and it doesn't serve the client's interests.
Joe Goeldel is a multi-functional graphic designer, artist and web guy. He received a BFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University, where he also studied photography, drawing, lithography, printing, astronomy, archeology, logic, and anything else that seemed unlikely to be of any use whatsoever.
About this site
This site was built using the Drupal 7 Content Management System. The theme is a custom-built sub-theme of the Drupal Bootstrap theme. The Cascading Style Sheets were written in the SCSS syntax of Sass and processed with Compass. The design, CMS set-up and sub-theming are my own work, including modifications to the PHP template files. The copy is also my fault.
